Located in the heart of Albemarle County farm country, Oakencroft has long been home to a range of agricultural activities. In addition to a vibrant wildlife presence, our 250 acres are home to livestock, a small orchard, contemplative gardens, as well as vineyards, which date back to 1982. Today, we are proud to care for this farm, guided by the principles of regenerative agriculture and carbon sequestration.
At Oakencroft we are invested in restoring our natural habitats. Our entire farm is solar-powered, rainwater is collected for our grey water usage, and geothermal wells provide for our heating and cooling needs. In this manner, we take advantage of the Earth’s abundant renewable resources to reduce our carbon emissions and avoid the unnecessary waste of water and energy.

Oakencroft was one of the first commercial wineries in Albemarle County and much of the Monticello region. The original owners, John and Felicia Rogan, are considered by many to be among the “founders” of Virginia wine. Mrs. Rogan has dedicated much of her life to building the stability and recognition of the Virginia Wine industry. Oakencroft’s original winemaker, Phil Ponton, dedicated forty years to the vineyard and still plays an important role here at the farm.
