Guided Vineyard & Winery Tour
Join the Oakencroft Team for a informational walk through our vineyard. You'll learn about the variety of ways we incorporate regenerative viticulture into our growing practices, see the vineyard in its seasonal expression, and learn a little about the winemaking process. This experience concludes with a guided tasting of our current wine offerings.
Hive to Honey
Join us for a Hive to Honey Discovery Session with beekeeper Allison Wickham and learn the basics of beekeeping and why pollinators matter!
Spend some time with our local professional beekeeper to learn the basics of honey bee management and the importance of pollinators in our daily lives. Discover how honey is produced and discus the terroir of honeys around the world. Finish the experience off with some time inside an active beehive (suits provided!) and taste honey made by our own Oakencroft Bees!
Seed to Bloom - Cut Flower Gardening
Seed to Bloom is a two-part floral journey that unfolds with the season, inviting guests to slow down and engage with the beauty of growth over time. Hosted by Hope Henderson of FLORA. This is not a one-day workshop, but a slow, thoughtful experience rooted in season, place, and the quiet joy of watching something grow.
Part I — Sowing
Join us as we gather to learn how to sow a cutting garden with intention. Hope will guide participants through how to plant, tend, and grow for the season ahead, sharing practical tips for getting the most out of your garden. Guests will hand-plant new seedlings to take home, along with a curated seed packet and simple, useful guidance to help nurture their garden at home.
Part II — Gathering
Returning after the garden has bloomed, we will meet for a guided flower arranging class celebrating the season’s abundance. Learn how to gather, condition, and compose flowers into a natural arrangement, leaving with new skills and a lush arrangement in a beautiful hand-selected compote to take home.
Mandalas for Presence
Join us at Oakencroft for an evening of mindful creativity with multimedia artist Brielle DuFlon. After learning about the meditative practice and history of mandala making, guests will take a guided walk around the farm to gather natural materials before creating their own ephemeral mandalas inspired by the landscape. This peaceful outdoor experience invites participants to slow down, connect with nature, and create with intention.
Nature Photography Walk
Interested in learning how to perfect your nature shots? Join Charlottesville’s favorite photographer, Sarah Cramer Shields, for a jaunty walk along Oakencroft’s trails. Finish the walk with an included curated flight and a cheese or charcuterie board provided by A Pimento Catering.
Soil and Plant Health Seminar
Join us in our Meeting Center to discuss the important role that microbiology plays in supporting soil and plant health. After which, we'll go to the vineyard to dig a soil pit to see what this looks like in practice and discuss any questions that may arise. This seminar is perfect for vineyard and farm managers and anyone who wants to nurture healthy plants!
Bird Walk with Sancta Natura
Join us for a nature walk with Tom Wyatt of Sancta Natura, a project created to sponsor free nature education will be our guide. Identify some of the dozens of bird species that are passing through our area from further north en route to the tropics for winter as we begin fall migration, as well as our year-round residents, and other animals and plants. Our walk will take us on trail and road along field and forest edge, learning about the flora and fauna we encounter.
Intro Fly Fishing
Join us for an introduction to Fly Fishing (Fly Fishing 101) including casting lessons, knot tying, an overview of fishing opportunities in the area, and some fishing! With on the water instruction on the lake here at Oakencroft. After the lesson, join us in the Tasting Room for a flight of Oakencroft wine, and a light bite.
T'ai Chi for Beginners
Join us at Oakencroft Farm & Winery for a restorative T’ai Chi series designed to cultivate calm, balance, and connection. Long envisioned as part of our Retreat Center offerings, T’ai Chi beautifully aligns with Oakencroft’s mission to provide sanctuary and meaningful experiences for our community. These small-group sessions are intentionally welcoming, all-levels, and especially beginner friendly — no prior experience is needed.
Sound Baths for Restoration and Healing
Join us for a sound bath at the Center at Oakencroft. We will lead you through light stretching and meditation, followed by an extended sound bath in the relaxing, light filled common room of our Oakencroft Center. Session will run approximately one hour, and guests are invited to join us after the sound bath for a tasting in our tasting room.
Farm to Table Dinners
Borrowing from the multicultural traditions of both the Asador of Patagonia, Argentina and the Calçotada of Catalunya, Spain, our team has crafted a unique, seasonal supper experience. This four course meal will include farm raised lamb and chicken cooked over an open fire, along with charred local spring onions served with Romesco sauce, and other rustic fare.
Nature Connectedness
Explore the art and science of nature connectedness as it relates to personal well-being, conservation mindsets, and strategic environmental leadership. Meaningful, emotional bonds with the Earth are at the core of the cultural shift needed to protect and preserve nature. After a general introduction, individuals can choose between a variety of experiential activities that include:
Green Break: Tactile interaction with natural elements which fosters immediate relaxation, mindful focus, and low-pressure socializing.,
Wonder Walk: Walking in nature with a guided nature session which offers simple mindfulness prompts and concludes with a shared sensory appreciation exercise highlighting plants and fractal patterns in nature.
Nature Journaling: Self-paced, station-based sensory experience designed to move participants from logical thinking into creative, intuitive connection with the natural world.
