Our Farm
Charlottesville, Virginia.
Located in the heart of Albemarle County farm country, Oakencroft has long been home to a range of agricultural activities. In addition to a vibrant wildlife presence, our 250 acres are home to orchards, livestock and gardens as well as vineyards which date back to 1982. Today, we are proud to care for this farm, guided by the principles of regenerative agriculture and carbon sequestration.

Responsible Practices
Our Vineyards
With some vines dating back to 1982, our vineyard contains five acres of hybrid wine grapes. We grow Seyval Blanc, Vidal Blanc, Chambourcin, and De Chaunac as well as a daring new hybrid variety known as Merlot Kanthus or Petit Merlot. We manage our vineyard with the same ecologically sound principles as the rest of our work on the farm and these varieties allow us to limit the amount of intervention often required of other grape varieties in our climate.

Regenerative Farming
Across the farm, our holistic approach takes into consideration the health of our entire ecosystem. Our experimentation in permaculture, silvopasture, integrated pest management, and healthy livestock are just a few of the ways we work to balance carbon sequestration with fruitful farming.
